Job Summary 

  

Support Danville clients to achieve their desired quality of life and ensure optimal health and safety, provide support and supervision, assist clients to be as independent as possible, and to maintain their homes so they are clean, safe, and hazard free.   

  

Job Responsibilities 

  

·       Behavior should be professional at all times and consistent with Danville’s culture, mission, values, philosophy, and policies and procedures, including treating clients and others with dignity and respect.

 

·       Assist clients in maintaining safe and healthy lifestyles, and monitor for changes in their general health, appearance, behavior, and patterns of activities. 

 

·       Responsible for monitoring and maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment for clients at all times.  

 

·       Provide training and assistance to all clients in making healthy dietary choices, and following any pre-established orders by medical professionals. 

 

·       Plan and support clients in daily activities, including, household chores, recreational activities, learning activities, physical fitness activities, and money management.

 

·       Responsible for assisting clients with personal hygiene skills and tasks, including assisting with bathroom responsibilities, ensuring clients complete shaving, brushing teeth, bathing/showering, shampooing, and dressing appropriately for the weather and type of activities.

 

·       Complete paperwork, including electronic documentation, as necessary, to meet Danville, federal, and state regulatory requirements.

 

·       Complete required, on-going training requirements within Danville and state required timeframes, and meeting region required competency levels. 

 

·       Report to work on time, and if unable to report to work, or if there is a need to come to work late, or leave early, follow Danville’s approval policy. 

  

·       If required, safely transport clients to and from recreational activities, errands, work, and personal appointments, and comply with Danville’s vehicle safety, maintenance, and cell phone use policies. 


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, unless required by state law
  • 0-3 years working in human services, preferably with adults or children with disabilities

 Additional Requirements

·       Required to pass an Arizona Department of Human Services (DHS) Licensing background verification and with the Department of Social Services and Adult and Child Abuse Register upon hire and periodically throughout employment 

·       Must be 21 years or older, and if responsible for driving while on work time have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and insurable driving record

  

Knowledge/Skills/Training/Certifications  

·       Basic fluency in oral and written English
Basic computer and keyboarding skills

     


Physical Demands and Working Conditions: 


1. Physical Requirements: Requires repetitive manual and finger dexterity and eye- hand coordination; requires the ability to use all office equipment; and the ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds using appropriate body mechanics. Must be able to remain awake and alert for the duration of each shift. Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, sit, and walk for periods of time. Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics while assisting with the transfer of individuals weighing up to 250 pounds utilizing manual or mechanical lifting devices. 

  

2. Visual, hearing, and communication requirements:  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with all staff, other professionals, and clients. Must be able to give and receive verbal and written instructions in English. 

  

3. Work location: Home-like and office settings with varying degrees of background noise. The possibility of exposure to blood borne pathogens exists if universal precautions are not followed. May require working under stressful conditions at times and handling emergencies. There will be pressure at times to meet scheduled appointments and deadlines and manage crisis situations. This position will interact with consumers who are intellectually and developmentally delayed and may be frail or confused and have the potential for verbal or physical aggression.
